Open call for international writing residencies at Vil·la Joana 2025, Barcelona
Since 2022, Barcelona, recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature, has been welcoming writers and translators from all over the world to Vil·la Joana, an emblematic space at the heart of Collserola Park where the poet Jacint Verdaguer lived his last years and died.
The call for applications is now open for the selection of residents for the year 2025. These residencies are open to writers of any nationality and language with fiction or non-fiction projects, as well as literary translators with projects linked to Barcelona.
Staying periods and requirements
The residencies will be organised in 3-week rotations, with a maximum of 3 authors per rotation, from 15 April to 20 October 2025. Participants must have at least one published work with an ISBN or a publicly performed script and must submit an excerpt of the project they will work on during their stay (between 5 and 10 pages).
Submission of applications
The period for submitting applications is open from 18 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, by means of this form. The documentation can be submitted in Catalan, Spanish or English.
A space for creation and connection
In addition to working on their projects, residents will participate in literary activities organised by Vil·la Joana, consolidating this space as a cultural meeting point for local and international authors.
